Javier Diego Jacinto is a scholar-activst whose activism and scholarly work intersect language, race, religion, and immigration, rooted in his Mazateco heritage from Oaxaca. Javier’s work focuses on exploring the factors that influence the recruitment and retention of Latino and Latina teachers in K-12 education through the analysis of testimonios; evaluating the effectiveness of cultural and linguistic immersion experiences in preparing students to be effective bilingual teachers; and contributing to the research on the intersection of education and immigration, specifically focusing on undocumented student and their families. He also creates social media content where he shares his story, offers advice, and advocates for undocumented students. Javier graduated from Southwestern College with an Associate in Arts in Elementary Teacher Education. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Applied Arts and Sciences: Liberal Studies from San Diego State University & graduated with a Masters of Art in  Postsecondary Educational Leadership &  Student Affairs from San Diego State University.
